How can you verify your claims?

Glad you asked! We are an Ethy accredited brand, following audit of our business practices and materials.

Ethy developed sustainability standards with leading organisations such as Carbon Neutral Britain, Efeca, ClimatePartner, Edinburgh University Innovations, and Social Enterprise UK. Their SDG-centred framework takes a deep dive into six core paths which represent the most pressing challenges and offer the widest opportunities to have a positive impact on people, animals and the planet.

How is your packaging sustainable?

100% of our packaging is plastic-free and home compostable.

Sauce Pouches: these are made from natural products including paper, eucalyptus fibre, cassava and corn starch, and will break down into water and biomass in less than 10 weeks.

Labels: these are made from a compostable and biodegradable film. The adhesive is made from renewable materials (non-fossil fuel derived) and certified 100% biodegradable and compostable.

Packing Tape: this is made from 100% recycled, FSC certified materials with a non-toxic water-activated adhesive and soy-based ink.

Shipping box: these are made from FSC certified wood pulp, comprising between 60-90% recycled materials.

Thermal insulation: our paper-based liners are made from FSC certified materials and 100% recyclable.

Ice Packs: there are currently no plastic-free options on the market and while leading brands claim that their contents can be poured down the sink, it doesn't feel like an ideal solution. Therefore we make our own ice packs in-house using compostable pouches, water and salt. You won't find them anywhere else!

Why plant-based?

It's no secret that plant-based is better for the planet. It's one of the most effective ways to reduce carbon footprints and mitigate climate change, as well as improve human health.

How do you tackle food waste?

Quite simply, we use all the vegetables we buy to make our sauces, so there's nothing leftover to throw away. We work with precise recipes and so we calculate the exact ingredients we need, which minimises food waste.

Because our sauces are stored frozen and have a long shelf life, we don't have to worry about food waste in the same way that we would if we offered a chilled product with a limited shelf life.

Because our customers store the sauces in their freezers, and defrost before use, this tackles food waste.

How do you transport your sauces?

Our delivery partner is FedEx who are actively working to transition the entire FedEx parcel pickup and delivery fleet to zero emission vehicles by 2040.

We offer a pickup service for customers living in Cornwall. We are looking to expand this option into the major UK cities.

How do you source your ingredients?

We work with trusted local suppliers, who work with Cornish farmers as much possible to source fruit and vegetables grown in UK. Where this is not possible, produce is imported from EU.

Where do you manufacture?

We manufacture all our sauces in Cornwall in the UK.
